AbstractAbstract
[en] KAERI has performed the SMART technology validation project for the 330MWth SMART since 2009 followed by the decision made by Nuclear Safety Commision in '09. 3. 30. The project mainly consists of the experimental validation and software validation programs. Experimental validation is to validate the safety and performance of SMART-specific design and components and the software validation is to develop and validate key design tools and methods used in the SMART standard design. Scopes of validation tests and software developments are derived reflecting expert opinion and carried out in each specialized areas; core, thermal-hydraulics and safety, mechanics and components and man-machine interface system (MMIS). For experimental validation, 21 separate-effect and integral-effect test facilities had been designed, manufactured and installed and, then, test reports are generated for individual validation test. Experiment building for large-scale IET had been constructed and the test facility is being installed after the completion of its design and component manufacturing. 8 key design computer codes and 8 design methods have been developed and validated. 15 technical reports are generated and reviewed by regulatory body in support of the SMART SDA. Results of the project are provided as technical basis for the SMART SDA and will play an important role in SMART export based on proven and localized technologies
