[en] The aim of this project is to identify and characterize the role of proton-motive force (PMS) in the influx and efflux of Ca2+ in different types of microorganisms (bacteria, yeasts, filamentous fungi). Disadvantage of study of Ca2+ transport is that they should not cause inhibitors. The starting point of the project was our finding that in filamentous fungus Trichoderma viride the influx and efflux of Ca2+ are stimulated by disconnector. This finding rules out the possibility that Ca2+ transport in one or the other direction is driven by PMS. Homeostasis of Ca2+ ions were characterized by measuring the transport of radioactive isotope 45Ca2+ into and from cells of microorganisms. (Authors)
