[en] Zorita Internals research Project, ZIRP, has as main objective the analysis of metallic materials from Jose Cabrera NPP (Zorita) reactor vessel internals in order to assess the degradation of their properties after being subject to an extended period of irradiation in a commercial reactor. In order to achieve this goal, samples from Zorita reactor vessel internals have been harvested and are being tested in different international laboratories. Leaded by Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), ZIRP is considered a high interest and international relevant project, considering that results from an appropriate testing plan of the Zorita materials are of high value to the continued safe operation of the nuclear power fleet worldwide, as well as to new reactor designs.
