AbstractAbstract
[en] Safety assessment of Kartini reactor using core is loaded by U_3Si_2-Al fuel plat element has been done. TRIGA fuel element production is stopped, its means that at any time fuel elements of Kartini reactor are finished. Based on that fact, a core substitute of Kartini reactor with U_3Si_2-Al is proposed such that that operation of the Kartini reactor can be maintained. Core modification of Kartini reactor can be performed when get licensing from the Regulatory Body (BAPETEN), one of the requirement is a safety assessment. This paper present safety assessment of Kartini reactor is loaded by U_3Si_2-Al fuel element with several models of core configuration. Power Peaking Factor and an effective neutron multiplication factor when the control rod is inserted are two reactor parameters which have relationship to the reaktor operation safety. Those two reactor parameters ca be calculated by using MCNP computer code. Based on the calculation of the two reactors parameters of several core models variation shown that values of power peaking factor of the several core models are on ranges between 1,6 to 1,9 and the effective neutron multiplication factor with control rods inserting 0,53 to 0,86. Those values are on the safety limit ranges, and the Japan Reactor Research-4 (JRR-4) core configuration model is one of the fourth core configuration models which most suitable to be dedicated to substitute of Kartini reactor core.
