AbstractAbstract
[en] The materials used in nuclear reactors get damaged due to continuous neutron irradiation. Fuel damage is one of the important factors effecting the performance of the fuel. Fuel damage results in degradation of thermal conductivity, leading to an increase in the fuel centreline temperature. Apart from effecting fuel properties due to high temperature, this results in the release of more fission gas, leading to high pressure within the fuel-clad gap. This, in turn, can lead to structural failure of the fuel rods
