AbstractAbstract
[en] J-PARC E36 experiment is searching for a violation of lepton universality by precisely measuring the ratio of the kaon decay widths R_K = Γ(K"+ → e"+ν)/Γ(K"+ → μ"+ν). Any deviation of the experimentally determined R_K from the Standard Model prediction directly indicates the presence of new physics. The experiment will be performed using a stopped K"+ beam with the detector apparatus based on a 12-sector superconducting iron-core toroidal spectrometer and a CsI(Tl) calorimeter. R_K can be obtained from the accepted K"+ → e"+ν and K"+ → μ"+ν event ratio corrected for the detector acceptance ratio. The total size of the experimental uncertainty is estimated to be 0.25%.
