AbstractAbstract
[en] The state enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) operates 2 similar design units of RBMK-1500 water-cooled graphite-moderated channel-type power reactors (1500 MW electrical power). INPP is carrying out the decommissioning project of the 2 reactors which includes: -) the retrieval of the spent nuclear fuel from the power units and its transportation into the Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility; -) equipment and building decontamination and dismantling; -) radioactive waste treatment and storage; and -) the operation of key systems to ensure nuclear, radiation and fire protection. Ignalina NPP decommissioning project is planned to be completed by 2038. The presentation will be focused on the ongoing decommissioning activities at Ignalina NPP. The overview of main aspects and challenges of INPP decommissioning will be provided
