[en] Counter/timer unit using AT89C52 microcontroller will be installed on gamma spectrometer system have been done. The old product of counter/timer on gamma spectrometer system have been still using conventional component so the circuit is very complexes and for product needed a relative long time and expensive. The circuit modification of counter/timer using AT89C52 with LCD (16 x 2) as display is very important to be done. The activity is convert electronic circuit and lay out PCB design, making PCB, mounting component, making software counting system and functions test. From the test result it is found that the Counting linearity (R"2) = 0.9998, Chi Square Test (X"2) = 14.85, if X"2 to insert on recommended value 7.663 ≤ X"2 ≤ 36.191 so 7.663 ≤ 14.85 ≤ 36.191 it meant that the counting stability is good enough. Counting linearity value and counting stability have been shown as counter/timer is good function and recommended to use on gamma spectrometer system. (author)
