AbstractAbstract
[en] In this technical note, the author recalls that when a potential difference at least equal to the disruptive voltage is applied between two electrodes which separate a gaseous medium, after some preliminary phenomena, the apparent electric resistance of the gaseous spacing quickly decreases until breakdown. He recalls the formula which has been experimentally established by Toepler for the resistance. Then, in order elaborate a theoretical justification of the Toepler formula which has a rather important role in issues related to plasma formation, two methods are proposed for this justification
