AbstractAbstract
[en] Although reactors are an important neutron source in activation analysis, it is sometimes convenient to use other neutron sources that require less investment. The Grenoble Nuclear Research Center has electrostatic accelerators generating fast neutrons of 3 MeV. These generators, of the SAMES type, accelerate a deuteron beam at 300 kV towards a 'self-target'. This gives a neutron flux up to 2.109 n/s/4π by the 2H (d,n) 3He reaction. A number of elements composing vegetal material are activated in this flow mainly by (n,p), (n,γ) and (n, n' γ) reaction. It turns out that the 3 MeV neutrons rather concern the elements of intermediate mass between 50 and 100 such as Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Sr. 3 MeV neutron activation analysis of biological samples is probably an important link between two already developed techniques where activation is obtained on the one hand with thermal neutrons, on the other hand, with 14 MeV neutrons. This new method of analysis would find its full interest in systematic studies on many samples of elements as important for agronomy as Cu, Zn, Mn, because, in addition to its non-destructive appearance without chemical manipulation, it is an extremely fast method

Bien que les reacteurs constituent une source de neutrons importante en analyse par activation, il est parfois commode de recourir a d'autres sources neutronigenes exigeant un investissement moindre. Le Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires de Grenoble dispose d'accelerateurs electrostatiques generateurs de neutrons rapides de 3 MeV. Ces generateurs, de type SAMES, accelerent un faisceau de deutons sous 300 kV vers une 'autocible'. Celle-ci fournit un flux de neutrons atteignant 2.109 n/s/4π par la reaction 2H (d,n) 3He. Un certain nombre d'elements composant la matiere vegetale s'activent dans ce flux principalement par reaction (n, p), (n, γ) et (n, n' γ). Il s'avere que les neutrons de 3 MeV concernent plutot les elements de masse intermediaire compris entre 50 et 100 tels que Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Sr. L'analyse par activation d'echantillons biologiques aux neutrons de 3 MeV constitue vraisemblablement un maillon important entre deux techniques deja developpees ou l'activation est obtenue d'une part avec des neutrons thermiques, d'autre part avec des neutrons de 14 MeV. Cette nouvelle methode d'analyse trouverait tout son interet dans le cadre d'etudes systematiques sur de nombreux echantillons d'elements aussi importants pour l'agronomie que le Cu, Zn, Mn, car, en plus de son aspect non destructif sans manipulation chimique, elle serait une methode extremement rapide.
