AbstractAbstract
[en] 99Tc, a beta emitting (Eâ-max =295.5 keV) radionuclide, is produced in (n,f) 235U with high fission yield. Long half-life (2.11 x 105 years) and aqueous mobility of TcO4- necessitates the development of a method for separation of technetium to reduce environment hazards. This paper investigates removal of technetium (VII) from alkaline low level waste using Cis di t-butyl dibenzo 18-crown-6 (DTBDB18C6) impregnated XAD-7 resin both in batch and column mode. Solvent impregnated resins were prepared by dissolving DTDB18C6 in NPOE (2 nitrophenyl octyl ether) followed by impregnation in XAD-7 by conventional method and characterized by SEM, TG-DTA and FTIR
