AbstractAbstract
[en] In an increasing number of States, measures are being introduced in new buildings to prevent the accumulation of 222Rn. It is usually cheaper and easier to incorporate preventive measures for radon into a new building at the time of construction than to take corrective actions for an existing dwelling. Such preventive measures for radon in new buildings will gradually reduce average concentrations of 222Rn in the housing stock, thus helping to reduce the public health impact of long term exposure of the population due to 222Rn indoors. In addition, such measures can improve other aspects of the quality of indoor air. The preventive measures for radon have been developed for world regions with four climatically distinct seasons, and they may need to be checked to ensure that their application in other parts of the world would be appropriate
