[en] Full text: The materials science in Amazon region, and in particular case at Pará State, is yet a not complete developed area of research. However, such scenario has experienced a fast change in the last few years. Due to the large amount of investments, mainly directed to the infrastructure in the Universities, and the hire of new and motivated young researchers the area experienced a significant growing. In current days, it is possible to perform research in several materials science sub areas, employing modern equipment installed in good research centers. Among the techniques available, we can cite: Raman spectroscopy, X Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (MEV), Differential Scanning Calorimetric (DSC) and many others. All these facilities are used to investigate a vast kind of materials as organic crystals, polymers, carbon nanotubes, metal organic frameworks, and natural materials from Amazonia as vegetable oils, for instance. All of this allows to have a good entrance in the material research community, making our materials researcher centers competitive institutions. Although young our University Chapter has contributed to such process working as a forum to form future Scientist to our region. Our agenda concern about to give to the young students the multidisciplinary and the innovation character of science. Moreover, we are also working hard to give more visibility of the materials research community of our state to the country and to the world, and we also believe that our greatest challenge is to contribute to create a Materials Science community able to impact decisively in our society as well as our economy.
