AbstractAbstract
[en] RRCAT is involved in the R and D activities for development of low beta Spoke Resonator cavities for 1 GeV proton linac for proposed Indian Spallation Neutron Source (ISNS). Spoke cavities will be used for acceleration of low energy beam from RFQ (∼3 MeV) to medium energy (160 MeV). Physics design of three families of Spoke Resonator cavities with Beta values of 0.11, 0.22 and 0.42 respectively has been carried out by Accelerator and Beam Physics Section, RRCAT. Based on physics design inputs, mechanical design of Spoke Resonator Beta 0.11 cavity was carried out to ensure the structural stability against external pressure. Structural analysis of cavity with various wall thickness was carried out to optimize wall thickness. Linearized stresses were compared with code allowable stresses to ensure protection against plastic collapse based on ASME BPV Codes Section VIII Division 1 Subsection 5 guidelines.
