AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper Dismantlement of Nuclear Submarines at the Zvezdochka Shipyard and the Need for Upgrades of by Nikolai Kalistratov, director of shipyard, Russia, provided a detailed review of nuclear submarine defueling and dismantlement at the Zvezdochka shipyard along with the treatment of liquid and solid RW. Significant enhancements of submarine dismantlement complex, SNF unloading and RW treatment had been funded by the USA and Norway. The paper explained how various forms of RW were created in the process of dismantlement and described RW treatment facilities used by the shipyard. Proposals were tabled for new RW management facilities, including a new incinerator.
