AbstractAbstract
[en] The interest for electrodeposition of W alloys increased considerably in the last years, mainly due to excellent properties of this metal. The alloys that contain tungsten exhibit high corrosion resistance and good mechanical and magnetic properties. These alloys also present catalytic properties for evolution of hydrogen which qualify them for many applications in engineering. Electrodeposition of an amorphous layer of Ni-W alloy on a cathode was studied in this work. The electrolytic bath used contained the following ingredients: nickel sulfate, sodium tungstate, boron phosphate and sodium citrate. The pH was maintained at 8.0 and adjusted with ammonium hydroxide and sulfuric acid. Using a complete factorial planning 22 , studies were carried out on influence of the current density and of the temperature that led to the best conditions for obtaining the alloy. The study of corrosion tests revealed that the best value of polarization resistance (Rp) and corrosion potential (ECorr) of the alloy were 1.163 x 104 Ohms/cm2 and -0.427V, respectively. (author)
