AbstractAbstract
[en] Full text: Nowadays, nanomaterials have been highly studied due to the uniqueness of their physical and chemical properties and their wide applications. Particularly, nanoparticles of nickel ferrite have a great technological importance due to their interesting characteristics. They are versatile and classified as a soft ferromagnetic material, have high electrochemical stability, low conductivity, good magnetic loss, catalytic behavior. In the biomedical field, these nanoparticles show great potential in the cancer treatment by magnetic hyperthermia [1]. In this scenario, this work proposes the obtaining and characterization of NiFe2O4 nanoparticles, for medical applications. Nickel ferrite was prepared by co-precipitation method. The nanoparticles were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectrons spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetric, differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The magnetic characterization of the nanoparticles was done using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The initial results indicated that the synthesis process applied in this work promoted the formation of superparamagnetic nanoparticles of nickel ferrite with promising characteristics for medical applications.
