AbstractAbstract
[en] Full text: The layered double hydroxides (LDHs) compounds have attracted increasing attention because their potential usefulness as functional materials due to the synthetic versatility, being able exhibit remarkable adsorption and performance useful for application in sensor materials. The species on these compounds can connect to form infinite 2D sheets [1]. The aim of this work was focused on the preparation of LDHs by coprecipitation method [2], derived from Zn/Al (3:1) impregnated with silver (Ag) moiety, to improve the selective adsorption of thiolated amino acid. The synthesized Zn/Al-Ag LDH and final product of LDHamino acid were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanned electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy. Aqueous solutions of amino acids L cysteine, Lmethionine and L-glycine (0,0025 mol L-1) with pH 9 adjusted with sodium hydroxide were submitted to adsorption batch studies in presence of Zn/Al and Zn/Al-Ag LDH. The capacities of amino acids adsorption onto LDHs were evaluated by infrared spectroscopy of final solids, previously washed and dried. The results showed a selective removal of L-cysteine amino acid by using Zn/Al-Ag LDH even on blend mixture, which can open opportunities to use functional silver- LDH as sensors of thiolaled compounds. Details of the synthesis, characterization and desorption kinetics of the compounds will be presented. References: [1] Wu, L., Li, J., & Zhang, H.-M.
