AbstractAbstract
[en] Titanium disulfide, being one of the popular transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) materials, shows wonderful properties owing to tunable optical band gap. Pure and PbSe doped titanium disulfide nanodiscs have been synthesized by solid-state reaction method. FESEM, TEM and Raman images confirm the synthesis of nanodiscs. XRD spectra suggest the polycrystalline structure of as-prepared as well as PbSe doped TiS2 nanodiscs. PL spectra of the as-synthesized nanodiscs has been studied in the wavelength range of (300–550 nm), at room temperature. The position of the peak shifts towards the lower wavelength (blue shift) and intensity of the PL increases after the doping of PbSe, which may be due to a broadening of the optical band gap. UV–vis spectra has been used to calculate optical band gap of pure and PbSe doped titanium disulfide nanodiscs. The calculated value are found to be 1.93 eV and 2.03 eV respectively. Various optical constants such as n and k have been calculated. The value of extinction coefficient (k) of pure and doped titanium disulfide increases while the value of the refractive index (n) decreases with increase in photon energy. (paper)
