AbstractAbstract
[en] In this parliamentary report, the author states and justifies several recommendations for a better management and exploitation of the French forest. These recommendations more particularly aim at a better assessment of the forest condition, a better follow-up of its evolution, a better understanding of the operation of forest social-ecosystems, and at a better anticipation of risks and crisis. Within a context of climate change, and of more frequent and intense risks, these recommendations also aim at a better protection of natural resources in relationship with the role of forests, a better forest management, a maintenance of biodiversity and of a good soil condition, the implementation of natural solutions, a development of the wood sector through various valorizations, the creation of new wood resources to strengthen carbon sinks. The author also makes recommendations for a better and more efficient structuring of public action, for more transparent knowledge and data sharing, to organise and finance action means. She finally addresses the huge and worldwide importance of forests located in overseas territories. Numerous appendices contain a wide range of information and data on numerous aspects of forests and of their management.
