AbstractAbstract
[en] Recent activities in the critical experiment program at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) are described. The process by which critical experiments are done under the Nuclear Criticality Safety Program of the US Department of Energy is discussed. There are currently 8 active critical experiment performed at SNL whose titles are 1) 7uPCX 0.855 cm Pitch, Variable Depth Pure Water Moderator, 2) Characterize the Thermal Capabilities of the 7uPCX, 3) Temperature Dependent Critical Benchmarks, 4) Critical Experiments with UO2 Rods and Molybdenum Foils, 5) Critical Experiments with UO2 Rods and Rhodium Foils, 6) Epithermal HEX Lattices with SNL 7uPCX Fuel for Testing Nuclear Data, 7) Titanium Cross Sections in a Thermal Application (BUCCX Hardware), and 8) Inversion Point of the Isothermal Reactivity Coefficient. The experiments are listed and briefly described. The most recent experiment series (whose title is '7uPCX 0.855 cm Pitch, Variable Depth Pure Water Moderator' conducted in the facility is described and preliminary results of that experiment are presented
