AbstractAbstract
[en] After completion of the HTTR licensing procedure in November 1990, JAERI is dedicated to building and construction of the 30 MWth, HTTR together with its industrial partners (Fuji Electric, Mitsubishi, Hitachi). Building is well under progress. Overall costs have been estimated to be about one billion DM. Criticality will be reached end of 1995 and normal operation at 850 °C is planned for 1996 -1999. Subsequently a process heat plant - to be defined - will be connected with HTTR operations at 950 °C. R+D programs will be reduced, because the licensing procedure is completed and building costs are 20 % higher than estimated. To supply the first core in the period 1996 - 2000, Nuclear Fuel Industries is in the process of setting up fuel manufacturing plant to be operated by mid-1992.
