AbstractAbstract
[en] After having outlined the general psychological consequences of a nuclear accident such as the one which occurred in Fukushima on the behaviour of populations, and notably the stress related to lack of knowledge and understanding in case of emergency, or the attitude towards food products as well as towards authorities, the authors comments the information strategy and arrangement which have been notably developed by the IRSN and foreseen by French authorities. They also evoke other approaches such as that adopted in Canada with the objective to develop public participation and empowerment with measures related to communication and to public commitment and partnership. Lessons learned from the Fukushima accident are then discussed in terms of use of advanced information and communication technologies, of publication of irradiation and radioactivity maps, but also of development and distribution of individual radioactivity meters. They finally discuss the emergence of a closer relationship between radioactivity measurement and citizen sciences: development of low-cost sophisticated sensors, of mobile applications, of interconnections between projects initiated by public bodies (IRSN in France, and SURO in Czech Republic) and projects initiated by citizen. The specific strategy developed by the IRSN is finally overviewed.
