AbstractAbstract
[en] Metal oxide thin films due to their exotic properties have been identified as promising candidates for the fabrication of microelectronic circuits, sensors, piezoelectric devices, fuel cells and as catalysts. Of the different materials available, vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) thin films have been used in applications such as window coatings, gas 56 sensing, displays, etc. because of their electronic structure. V2O5 is also a photochromic material in which if the energy of the excitation light is greater than its band-gap, charge-separation will take place. This has rendered V2O5 a prospect for being used in technological applications such as erasable optical storage media, large-area display, chemical sensor, etc. Here, we report the synthesis of V2O5 thin films via a novel technique called Ultrasonic Nebulized Spray Pyrolysis of Aqueous Combustion Mixture (UNSPACM). UNSPACM is an easy and cost effective method for the synthesis of complex oxide thin films having fine grains, for different advanced applications. (author)
