AbstractAbstract
[en] Silicon Nanoparticles (Si NPs) embedded luminescent silicate glass has been synthesized by a novel one pot, simple chemical synthesis route. Aqueous solution of colloidal Si NCs was prepared by reducing (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES) with sodium ascorbate (SA) in a one-step synthesis method at room temperature. Glass was formed by the slow evaporation of colloidal solution of Si NCs at 50 to 60 °C and subsequently cooling in a refrigerator. Prepared glass exhibits intense greenish blue photoluminescence (PL) that can be detected with the naked eye at room temperature. Structural characterizations indicate that the Si NPs are embedded in the glass material. The high quantum yield of 43% and inexpensive preparation makes the glass attractive for numerous applications. (author)
