AbstractAbstract
[en] We have grown a new Pr-based compound PrRu2In2Zn18 and have studied its structural and magnetic properties by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and magnetization measurements, respectively. The single-crystal X-ray analysis showed that this compound is a quaternary derivative of the cubic CeCr2Al20-type. Magnetic susceptibility χ obeys the Curie-Weiss law above 50 K. The effective magnetic moment, μeff = 3.58 μB/Pr, agrees with the value expected for a free Pr3+ ion. Below 10 K, Van-Vleck paramagnetic behavior is observed, indicating that the crystalline electronic field ground state of the Pr3+ ion is nonmagnetic. (author)
