AbstractAbstract
[en] Whereas negaWatt has just produced (October 2021) its fifth prospective scenario based on three main issues (sobriety, efficiency, renewable), this article proposes a critical overview of this approach. The author recalls the definition and use of an energy-climate scenario, outlines that the negaWatt scenario contains two new messages with respect to the previous versions (massive electrification of usages, a smoothed phasing out nuclear), and notices that the negaWatt scenario is a sociological rather than an energy scenario, and bears an implicit political content. He states that the scenario raises questions regarding implementation and macroeconomic reality, and also serious methodological issues with actual consequences with notably a surprising result on material assessment. He considers that the scenario starting point is actually phasing out nuclear and not the scientific search for an economic and environmental optimum
