[en] Recent progress towards the confinement of a cold pair plasma is presented, especially the first attempts of combining positrons and electrons in the APEX prototype dipole trap. Positrons from the intense NEPOMUC source are combined with electrons in two different approaches. One demonstrates that the injection of both species using the same electric and magnetic fields is possible, the other demonstrates the successful injection of positrons into a pre-formed dense electron space charge, which even extends the range of feasible injection parameters.
