AbstractAbstract
[en] Head and neck cancer is known to comprise a group of neoplasms that develop in the squamous cells that cover moist mucosal surfaces within the head and neck (eg, throat, larynx, nose, sinuses, salivary glands and mouth). Currently head and neck cancer has been increasing due to the frequency of smoking and alcoholism, especially in young people. There are alternative techniques for the cancer treatment such as radiotherapy, currently there are treatment techniques known as Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT). In order to determine the optimal treatment plan for head and neck, with both techniques, data was obtained for each patient in MATLAB software to compare different plans and obtain radiobiological models such as: Tumor control probability (TCP) and normal tissue damage probability (NTCP). The results showed that, with the application of the code elaborated in MATLAB, through the import of the DVH, it allows to help the radio-oncologist in the evaluation of the treatment plans.
