AbstractAbstract
[en] This publication presents the trend of electricity generation by a selection of 23 European utilities and the resulted evolution of CO2 emissions. This evolution reflects the changes in the European energy mix, in particular the renewable/fossil ratio, the general economic crisis context, and some specific events (multiplication of energy actors, drop of the renewable share, decarbonization of the non-renewable production). A carbon factor drop is still observed at the European scale, which reaches 290 kg CO2/MWh in 2017 (with respect to 275 kg CO2/MWh in 2016). The 23 utilities selected accounted for about 50% of CO2 emissions in Europe's electricity and heating sector (28 countries)
