[en] Analysis of the principles underlying the functions of the mechanism, particularly the arrestor, show that the choice of flywheel inertia is primarily a compromise between rod drop time and compact spring stop design. The stepping motor must be adequate to drive the system with its inertia at the required speed, The loads in the wire rope and arrestor link may impose limits on accelerations.
