[en] Radial velocity and intensity measurements are presented for the following emission lines of Scorpius X-1: He ii lambda4686, the C iii blend near lambda4650, Hβ, and Hdelta. Analysis of these data suggests that a periodicity near 0.27 day may be present, but our data do not confirm the periods (3.931 days, 3.7400 days, and 0.7873 day) recently suggested. If the velocity variation represents orbital motion, a model similar to an old nova is inferred. The X-ray flux might be accounted for by a rapid rate of mass transfer
