AbstractAbstract
[en] General comments on the occurrence of rotational spectra in quantal systems are offered. Matrix elements for collective transitions are expanded in powers of the angular momentum, and an analysis of systems with axial symmetry is given in terms of Regge trajectories. Physically significant parameters which characterize the intrinsic structure of the system and its coupling to the rotational motion are interpreted. Rotational motion for large quantum numbers is discussed and examples of discontinuities in rotational bands are presented. (1 table, 5 figures) (U.S.)
