AbstractAbstract
[en] It has recently been shown that the data on dsigma/dt/sub(t=0) for π-p → π0n and on Δsigma=sigmasub(π-p) - sigmasub(π+p) in the energy range 5 <=psub(L)<=240 GeV/c are incompatible with conventional Regge-pole models based on the rho, or on any combination such as rho + rho' or rho+soft cut. It is the purpose of this note to point out that the data at t=0, if taken seriously, give rise to striking predictions for the π-p → π0 n polarization in the FNAL energy range. In particular, it appears to be a virtually model-independent prediction that P for small t will decrease from its positive value at low energies, pass through zero and become negative and quite large at FNAL energies
