AbstractAbstract
[en] The cold-neutron cryogenic source installed in the IRT-M reactor of the I.V. Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy is described. Liquid propane cooled to a temperature of 90 K is used as a moderating substance. The propane source is similar in effectiveness to a liquid-hydrogen one for generation of neutrons at 4 A, but it is more straightforward in design, more reliable and safer. The propane source has been successfully operated for more than five years. (Auth.)
