[en] The most significant lines of research in nuclear medicine are, with a high degree of cross-fertilization, the nuclear line (nuclear techniques originating from high energy physics) and the computer line. The characteristics and limitations of current scintigraphic techniques are recalled, then external methods, in which the radiation source is out of the subject under investigation, are presented (EMI-scanner and fluorescent scanning systems), with positron emission techniques. Problems related to data acquisition, storage, display and processing of scintigraphic data are solved using digital computers interfaced with the nuclear equipment.
