[en] After a brief historical survey of the institute the scientific activity of the Department is revieved. The scientific activity is aimed at three directions as follows: application of radionuclides in analytical chemistry, use of isotopes of elements for studying exchange reactions, transport processes and physico-chemical state and behaviour of trace amounts of substances, and study of solid-phase catalytic processes. The programme can be characterized prevalently as a basic research, however, many results are immediately exploited in the industry and protection of the environment. These research trends present a basis for dividing the 15-member staff of the teachers and scientific workers of the Dopartment with corresponding technicians into groups. The results of the scientific work were presented in more than 500 original works and monography. (T.G.)
