AbstractAbstract
[en] In order to relieve and treat hematopoietic hypofunction and radiation sickness which appear on radiotherapy and anticancer chemotherapy of cancer of the uterus, the effects of the drip intravenous injection of the rapidacting adrenocortical hormone (Dexa-Scheroson) were examined in 37 cases. The drip intravenous injection of 10 mg Dexa-Scheroson was administered for 7-14 days in 32 patients who showed severe leukocytopenia with the white cell count of less than 3,000/mm3. In most of the patients (20 among 32 patients) the white (cell) count recovered to above 3,000/mm3 within 5 days after the injection and within 15 days it occurred in 29 among 32 patients. Dexa-Scheroson was effective in 15 among 19 patients with severe thrombocytopenia (the platelet count was below 10 x 104/mm3). The inhibitory effects of Dexa-Scheroson on thrombocytopenia was smaller than its inhibitory effects on leukocytopenia with delayed appearance. Among 37 patients who received adrenocortical hormones because of the severe hematopoietic hypofunction, 27 patients complained of various symptoms. The effects of Dexa-Scheroson on radiation sickness were examined. In 85% of the patients, Dexa-Scheroson was effective on nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, etc. while it was effective on general lassitude and anorexia in only 54% of the patients. It was considered that the combined use of the drip intravenous injection of Dexa-Scheroson during radiotherapy or anticancer chemotherapy for cancer of the uterus is effective because of its great effects on the hematopoietic hypofunction and leukocytopenia.
