AbstractAbstract
[en] A comprehensive X-ray spectrum investigation of the V-Ge (V3Ge2, V5Ge3, V3Ge) melts for the K-, L-series of both components, including absorption, has been carried out. It is shown that the atomic interaction in vanadium germanides is characterized by a complex superposition of metallic and covalent bonds. As the Ge content of the melt increases, the metallic bond weakens, while the covalent one strengthens, which results in the predominance of the covalent component in the higher germanide VGe2. It has been established that the α-band of V takes an active part in the formation of chemical bonds in germanides, whereas the α-band of Ge does not participate in it at all
