AbstractAbstract
[en] The bridge model for isospin-forbidden reactions proposed by Friedman is examined in detail. In this model, mixing between different isospin states can proceed only through the intermediary bridge states. Intermediate structure having a definite form is predicted to exist in the averaged S-matrix elements. It is shown that the predicted effects occur in the recent 16O(d,α1)14N(2.31) and 14N(α,α1)14N(2.31) data obtained by Jolivette and Chen, respectively. The bridge states are interpreted in the framework of a rotational model. Numerical calculations of the isospin-mixing matrix element in the rotational model are performed. A significant increase is found in the magnitude of the isospin-mixing matrix elements with deformation
