AbstractAbstract
[en] The 635.4 keV level in 171Tm fed in the β decay of the 7.5h 171Er was recently identified unambiguously to be the 7/2+[404] Nilsson state from directional correlation studies of γ rays through that level. The half life of this level was measured to be 1.26 +- 0.06 nsec by delayed coincidence technique. The measurement of the g factor of this level using the perturbed angular correlation technique has been reported. The measurement was made using the 277.4 -210.5 keV γ-γ cascade in an externally applied magnetic field of 10.0 kG. The results are: A2=0.124 +- 0.005, R=0.047 +- 0.007, and ωtau=0.160+-0.023. Assuming Tm to be in the 3+ ionic state after β decay of 171Er, the g factor is obtained to be 0.36 +- 0.06. This value is in good agreement with the Nilsson estimate (g=0.41) for this level.
