AbstractAbstract
[en] In radiotherapy of lymphogranuloma, complementary irradiation has substantial advantages as compared with local irradiation or irradiation using an extended field. Difficulties arising from the necessity of protecting the more sensitive tissues or of irradiating homogeneously all larger lymphatic groups of the given half of the body may at least partly be eliminated by an individually fitted shielding block placed at a distance of approximately 50 cm above the patient. This distance, the shielding of block adges in the radiation beam direction and the shielding equivalent of approximately 5 half-layers gives satisfactory protection to the tissue and provides a small half-shade. The measurements performed confirmed a homogeneous dose distribution, specified the dependence of the depth dose on the shielding value and permitted a more accurate adjustment of the shielding block.
