AbstractAbstract
[en] The growth of vapor bubbles at a solid/liquid interface was investigated. Experimental results of such growth have been obtained by predictably nucleating a single bubble in a uniformly superheated liquid and recording the event through high speed photography. A previously published theoretical analysis of vapor bubble growth (which includes microlayer contributions to the vapor supply) has been extended to describe the hemispherical growth observed. Solutions for bubble growth rates including the effects of inertia, heat transfer and microlayer evaporation have been obtained in generalized coordinates for growth in ordinary liquids and in liquid metals. The theoretical predictions and the experimental data are in good agreement
