AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper contains a summary of work carried out by the authors over several years to achieve X-ray collimators having high throughput and fine spatial resolution. Some successful procedures are described for grid collimators. It is concluded that (1) Soller systems are useful down to about two arc minutes FWHM, (2) below two arc minutes the grid units can provide higher throughput with less weight and volume - but higher cost, (3) suitable test procedures can be worked out to utilize normal laboratory X-ray sources, and (4) attainment of collimation finer than ten arc sec and areas larger than 100 cm2 may require unique facilities.
