AbstractAbstract
[en] A possible interpretation of the plasma confinement scaling in the Alcator experiment was presented. In the regime where the collision frequency (CF) is less than or equal to the maximum drift frequency (MDF), the diffusion coefficient (D) is modified from the pseudo-classical diffusion (PCD) to the value D=(PCD)(k), where k=(MDF)(MDF)/((CF)(CF)) due to the electron inertia effect. This electron inertia diffusion shows that the confinement time (tau) is proportional to the product of the plasma density and plasma current squared, divided by the electron temperature to the power 7/2; under the experimental conditions considered, tau is 25 milliseconds
