[en] A review is presented of the available published measurements of the rate of reaction between zirconium alloys and steam and, in some cases, oxygen. Attempts are made to define from all the experimental data a suitable rate equation which is appropriate over the range of temperatures relevant to LOCA conditions. The data reviewed encompass a temperature range 9100C to the melting point of zirconium, 18520C. It can be concluded that within 910 to 15770C, Zircaloy-2, Zircaloy-4 and Zr/2 1/2%Nb alloys have the same response to oxidation. (author)
