AbstractAbstract
[en] The Henry constants and Gibbs energies of dissolution of noble gases in nitrogen tetroxide have been calculated on the basis of the theory of infinitely dilute solutions. A satisfactory agreement between the calculated and experimental results has been obtained. With the increase of the gas atomic mass, enthalpy of solubility decreases monotonously, so that the process of krypton and xenon slubility in nitrogen tetroxide occurs with heat release. Xenon solubility rises with the increase of temperature. Argon solubility in the condition of operation of the loop plant condenser involves investigation of kinetic behaviour of this process

AbstractAbstract
[en] In carrying out the works on elimination of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl NPP between 1986 and 1987, the interim storages for the products of decontamination have been arranged at the territory of the Gomel Region of the Republic of Belarus. On the basis of the State program on elimination of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl NPP, the works on defining more exactly the radioactive waste storage sites, their stock-taking and registration have been conducted. 69 storage sites have been investigated. Their areas, the bulk of disposal 137CS, 90Sr, 239,240Pu specific activities, the level of the ground water have been determined. It has been found out, that 137CS inventory is 1.9x1012 Bq, 90Sr--1.9x1011 Bq, 239,240Pu--3.4x109 Bq. The majority of the storage sites are potentially dangerous for the environment owing to possible ingress of radionuclides into the surface and ground waters. The system of radiation control and supervision, including the network of 47 hydrogeological holes has been created to study the processes of migration of radionuclides from the storage sites into the ground water. During this period of time, maximum specific activities of 137Cs and 90Sr in the ground water have accounted for 270 Bq/m3 and 40 Bq/m3, correspondingly

AbstractAbstract
[en] Sorption characteristics of a carbonate-containing mineral (tripolite) were studied on model aqueous solutions and real waste water in a wide range of pH in the presence of isotopic and nonisotopic carriers and organic impurities. Sorption of 137Cs and 90Sr is adequately described by a power function. Analysis of 137Cs sorption isotherms suggests that radiocesium is adsorbed by ion-exchange mechanism, during which Cs+ ions from the solution exchange mainly with bivalent ions of the sorbent, whereas in 90Sr sorption trivalent ions of the sorbent also participate in the process. Saturation capacity of tripolite with respect to cesium and strontium was evaluated to be 0.3 and 1.0 mg-equiv./g respectively

Original Title

[en] A model of "9"0Sr transfer from soil to a plant, and an expression for the assessment of this transfer were received. The model has shown that the decrease of "9"0Sr transfer in the soil - plant system by liming of acid soils has a limit which limited by the CEC of the soil. The model has been tested using a set of experimental data obtained in the laboratory experiments. The evaluation of the influence of liming on the "9"0Sr transfer from soil to plant, and a comparison with the theoretical results were carried out. (authors)
