AbstractAbstract
[en] From the Trojan tube examination, the cracking has been identified as intergranular stress corrosion cracking, starting from the I.D., primary side. Cracking of Alloy 600 tubes has been observed in other locations (tubesheet, tube-support plate in case of denting). Despite the fact that pure water type of stress corrosion cracking has been observed 20 years ago, many unknowns remain on the mechanism of the phenomenon and the evaluation of the risks of further evolution in steam generators

AbstractAbstract
[en] Accelerated stress corrosion tests have been shown to be very useful to evaluate the tensile residual stresses. These methods can be applied in many cases where more sophisticated methods, such as strain gauges or x-ray diffraction either are impossible to use because of the shape of the product to be tested, or very expensive and time consuming

AbstractAbstract
[en] Severe pitting and stress corrosion cracking of components in nuclear and conventional power plants have been found, in relation to contamination by sulfur of chloride containing polluents or lubricants during storage or operation. Examples are given. Laboratory studies have identified some of the conditions for the occurrence of corrosion by traces of these elements

AbstractAbstract
[en] An experimental study of inclusive hadron production by neutrinos from protons is reported. The data are based on a sample of approximately 450 charged current events in the energy range 15 to 200 GeV obtained using the 15-ft. bubble chamber filled with hydrogen. Transverse momentum distributions and distributions in z = p/sub lab//ν are presented for positive and negative hadrons

AbstractAbstract
[en] After a review of the objectives of primary coolant chemistry, the reasons are given for the 'decaying lithium' specification and for its development to decrease dose rates while avoiding increasing the risks of primary side cracking of steam generator pipes. For conditioning secondary coolant, the choice of volatile conditioning (ammoniac or morpholine) and its characteristics are specified. The different types of corrosion of steam generators are discussed, particularly cracking under stress corrosion on the primary side and intergranular attack of the pipes on the secondary side; the associated remedies and consequences are also discussed. 8 figs., 3 tabs., 5 refs

[en] The Σ+ magnetic moment is measured to be (2.38 +- 0.02)μ/sub N/ with use of 44 457 polarized Σ+→pπ0 decays in a charged hyperon beam. The inclusively produced Σ+ in this 210 GeV/c beam have a polarization of about 0.20 for production angles between 2.5 and 7.0 mrad
