AbstractAbstract
[en] EurObserv'ER has been gathering information and data on renewable energy sources in the EU for more than twenty years to describe the state and development of the sectors in themed barometers. The first part of this opus is a summary per RES sector, communicating the main tendencies in each sector and the official Eurostat figures from Eurostat database available on the 25 January 2022 download. The following chapters supply socioeconomic indicators on employment and turnover, investment costs, avoided fossil fuel use and resulting avoided expenses and GHG emissions thanks to the development of the RES sectors. They also provide for an insight on EU competitiveness and innovation capability regarding renewable energy technologies

[en] EurObserv'ER has been gathering data on European Union renewable energy sources for twenty years to describe the state and development of the sectors in themed barometers. The first part of this opus is a summary of the barometers released in 2019 for the wind energy, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, CSP, bio-fuel, ocean energies and solid biomass sectors. The summaries have provided the opportunity to consolidate all the energy indicators with the official (consolidated) 2017 and 2018 data. Sectors for which no themed barometer was published in 2019 - namely hydropower, geothermal energy, heat pumps, biogas and renewable municipal waste - have also been analysed and monitored in detail using the latest official data for 2017 and 2018. This document offers a full synopsis of the energy dimension of the twelve renewable energy sectors developed at an industrial scale within the European Union

[en] EurObserv'ER has been collecting data on the European Union's renewable energy sources for twenty years to describe the state and thrust of the various sectors in theme-based barometers. The first part of this assessment is a summary of the barometers published in 2018 for the wind energy, photovoltaic, solar thermal, concentrated solar power, biogas, biofuel, solid biomass and heat pumps sectors. The data drawn from these barometers has been consolidated with the official data available at the very end of the year. The sectors that were not covered by individual barometers have also been analysed in detail and statistically monitored using data published in 2018. They cover small hydropower, heat pumps, geothermal energy, biogas, the incineration of renewable municipal waste and ocean energies. This work offers a full synopsis of the energy dimension of the twelve renewable sectors now developed at an industrial scale within the European Union.

[en] EurObserv'ER has been gathering data on the European Union's renewable energy sources for seventeen years for its theme-based barometer reports on the state of the sectors and their momentum. The first part of this work is a summary of the barometers published in 2016 for the wind energy, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, heat pump, bio-fuel and solid biomass sectors. The data drawn from these barometers has been updated and supplemented by data on the sectors for which no individual barometers were published - small hydropower, biogas, geothermal energy, concentrated solar power, household refuse incineration and renewable marine energy sources. Hence this publication offers a comprehensive energy dimension review of the twelve renewable sectors that are now developed in the European Union on an industrial scale. It also gives for the first time a view of the share of RES heating and cooling in the building stock. The 2016 edition of this report has additional sections broaden understanding of how renewable energies are developing in the European energy, economic and environmental context. The state of renewable energies report has been expanded to include the following new subjects in addition to the traditional sections devoted to energy indicators, socioeconomic aspects and investments made in the European Union's renewable sectors: - an appraisal of the penetration rates of renewable energy equipment for heating and cooling and urban infrastructures; - an overview of the main renewable sector costs and their levels of competitiveness in comparison with the fossil fuel sectors; - an assessment of the impact of the development of renewables on reducing fossil energy consumption within the European Union and the expenses thereby averted; - a full section on innovation and competitiveness indicators arising from R and D efforts in renewable technologies. This covers public-sector R and D investments, the result in terms of filed patents and a comparison of the significance of the renewable sectors by country for international trade; - indicators on how flexible European electricity systems are to integrating renewable capacities

The following chapters supply socioeconomic indicators on employment and turnover, investments, avoided CO2 emissions and resulting avoided expenses thanks to the development of the RES sectors. Another part gives an overview of how the EU performs in terms of R et D as compared to its main trading partners. This issue includes a special focus on electric mobility. It proposes also a regional overview of these different electricity-producing renewable sectors. A focus is proposed for each French region.
