AbstractAbstract
[en] Antiproton beams from LEAR have been supplied in 1984 to 16 experiments about 1012 particules at 200, 300, 600 and 1500 MeV/c have been delivered during 60 days of machine time. In nuclear physics, anti p-nuclei scattering and atomic X rays have been measured. In hydrogen, atomic L and K transitions have been detected. Searches have been made for baryonia with rather negative results. The p anti p annihilation at rest in various meson channels, selecting the initial anti p-wave, has been observed. The annihilation in electron-positron pair at rest and in flight has been measured and a value of the proton form factor is derived

AbstractAbstract
[en] The LEAR experiment PS170 is designed to detect the e+- pairs from anti p-annihilation. It aims to measure the proton form factors in the time like region and the spectrum of vector mesons in the mass range: 1-1,6 GeV. Data have been taken at 300, 600 and 1500 MeV/c incident momenta. The analysis of the 300 MeV/c data gave 200 2-body events: (anti pp → e+e-), clearly separated from the hadronic background. Values of the form factors are extracted near threshold. The next step will be to accumulate sufficient data to measure separately the electric and magnetic components up to 600 MeV/c. The use of an internal target is considered for measurements at high momenta

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new experiment is described which avoids the neutron problem by comparing accurately the μ- and μ+ lifetimes in liquid hydrogen. In addition by comparing the lifetime of neutrons from μ capture and electrons from μ decay, uncertainties about the initial state of the pμp molecule can be resolved

AbstractAbstract
[en] An experiment is in progress at Saclay to measure the muon capture rate on the proton, by comparing the lifetimes of positive and negative muons stopping in liquid hydrogen, with a final accuracy about 3x10-5. The beam structure of Saclay's linac (3 μs bunches at a rate of 3000 s-1) is used which allows the lifetime measurement after the burst in very favourable conditions. An apparatus has been designed. The result of a very preliminary analysis gives for the capture rate of muons bound in the pμp system: lambdasub(c) (pμp)=472+-45 s-1
[fr]

AbstractAbstract
[en] Experimental numerical values on deep-inelastic electron scattering from carbon are given. The first table gives the radiation corrected cross sections and their uncertainties, for incident energies (120 MeV < E < 680 MeV) and 4 scattering angles (360, 600, 900 and 1450). The second and the third tables give the longitudinal and transverse response functions and their uncertainties for two types of cross-section decomposition: one at constant momentum transfer and the other one at constant four-momentum transfer (200 MeV/c <= /q vector/ <= 600 MeV/c and 200 MeV/c <= qsub(μ <= 500 MeV/c)
[fr]

AbstractAbstract
[en] Comparison of the health and environmental effects of electricity production systems shows that the comprehensive French programme for nuclear power plant construction affords numerous advantages over an alternative programme of coal-fired plants: (1) by reducing health effects (2000 premature deaths will be prevented between 1973 and 1990) and (2) by lowering the releases of atmospheric pollutants (SO2 releases from thermal power plants will be reduced to a third between 1980 and 1995). Moreover, replacement of fossil fuels by electricity from this source will further diminish atmospheric pollution among consumers. If this replacement accounts for about fifty TW.h in 1990, as planned, there will be an additional 6% reduction in SO2 releases in France, as compared with 1980. (author)
